There is a huge range of activies for all ages and interests and all within easy reach of the cottage. (Please view the 'Links' page for loads more ideas and details)
There are options all year round from the Truffle Markets in January, cycling & walking in the spring and autumn to river swimming in summer to cool down. It is in July and August when the most organised events are to be found, such as the many gourmand and night markets. The Marchés Gourmands are a wonderful experience involving locals and tourists alike gathering around long tables and enjoying food and wine from the numerous popup style restaurants. Our favourite is the one set in picturesque Audrix with stunning views across the Dordogne Valley.
 Walk along the river bank Why not stop off for a walk. There are some great walks next to the river, one of our favorites is from Beynac to Castelnaud, past the shady walnut trees. |

 Visit local markets Become one of the locals and trade in a supermarket shop for a visit to a real French market. Some excellent local produce is available from bread cooked in a traditional wood fire to locally grown stawberries. |

 Try horse riding There are several excellent equestrian centres just a few minutes away for poney trekking and horse-riding lessons. |
|
 Wine tasting The large wine producing area near Bergerac is 50 mins away by car and less by train. A variety of wines are available for tasting and purchase. Or there is a small vineyard only 2km away. |

 Canoeing on the Dordogne There are numerous companies that hire canoes along both the Dordogne and Vezere rivers. Why not stop off for some lunch or a glass of local wine at a restaurant on the riverbank. Alternatively take a picnic and go for a swim. |

 Paddle boarding Paddle boarding is becoming popular on the Dordogne as an alternative to canoeing. |

 Water Skiing Le Bassin Nautique in Tremolat provides tourists of wide age range with the opportunity to try water skiing. Here the river Dordogne widens to form a large calm lake. Canoes can also be hired. |

 Outdoor swimming pool There is a heated swimming pool in Audrix which is open to the public. It has amazing views to the valley below. |

 Lunch in the square in Sarlat Why not venture to wonderful Sarlat, the Mecca of the Perigord Noir and enjoy a meal in the gorgeous restored square. Wander around the tiny medieval streets after lunch and do a spot of shopping. |

 Picnic down by the river Take a picnic to the river, relax and watch the world go by. |

 Walking and Biking There is a huge network of mountain bike and walking trails in the Dordogne. Direct access is right on our door step and various bike hire companies will deliver and pick up to your door. |

 Gardens of Marqueyssac Visit the beautiful formal gardens perched high on a cliff top with wonderful views to the valley and chateaux beyond. It is possible to visit at night in July and August when the gardens are lit by candles. The event has a magical quality complete with live music and a wine bar to watch the sun set. |

 Attend a Cookery Class Have fun and learn how to cook regional dishes with English speaking Chef, Ian, at Le Chevrefeuille. Just 4kms away. |

 Visit a Medieval Fete In July and August, Medieval Fetes are common in the surrounding villages and Chateaux. Fun entertainment for children and adults alike. |

 Explore a Bastide A Bastide is a fortified town built by the English during the 100 year war. There are many dotted around the Dordogne. The town pictured is Monpazier which has some interesting shops and a good selection of restaurants. |

 Audrix Water Park Just 5kms from the cottage, there is a fabulous water park with loads of activities. Including electric boats, inflatables and slides.

 Visit the Prehistory Museum Visit the prehistory museum in Les Eyzies (just 5kms away), and learn about prehistoric man. Les Eyzies, situated on the river, is also a lovely little place to explore. |

 Roc de Cazelle Take a trip back in time at the Roc de Cazelle and discover how prehistoric man lived. The children will love it! |

 Evening Gourmet Markets In the summer there are evening food markets where different producers/ restaurants sell gourmet food that is eaten on long benches. A great atmosphere that is popular with both tourists and locals. There also plenty of wine and music. |
